Psychotherapy/counselling provides the opportunity to discuss concerns or difficulties which may be getting in the way of leading a full life. It can also be used to discuss feelings which may have been buried for a long time but have now resurfaced for various reasons.
Your reasons for wishing to talk to someone may have been triggered by a specific event such as a trauma or some kind of loss, or a series of events. Often there may be no apparent problem and yet suddenly you feel stuck. Therapy will provide a safe, containing space where these feelings and issues can be talked about and explored with a trained and experienced professional.
Should we decide to work together you will be provided with an ongoing opportunity to talk about the things that are affecting you; thoughts and feelings that you may not be able to discuss with friends, family or loved ones.
My approach to counselling is integrative. This means that I incorporate various counselling methodologies in my work. The main counselling approaches I use are: Psychodynamic, Humanistic (Person-Centred) and Existential. These are also the areas I was trained in when gaining my Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy.
